Gustavus Adolphus College welcomes prospective candidates to apply to the full-time Director of Maintenance Services position.

Under the direction of the Associate VP for Facilities Management, this position will manage the maintenance of the campus buildings, related systems and equipment, utility generation/distribution and campus utility infrastructure, with a focus on customer service. The Director develops, plans, organizes, coordinates and administers a maintenance program with multiple maintenance activities and projects within established policies and procedures. This position oversees and coordinates the work of the building trades personnel and is the primary liaison between trades staff and campus customers to ensure continuity and quality of service while providing in-depth maintenance services. As a key member of the Facilities Management team, the director oversees the management of critical infrastructure projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees the daily maintenance as well as long-term planning and outlook for campus buildings and related systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
Ensures that maintenance work is performed safely, properly, within budget, and completed in a timely manner.
Provides leadership and oversight to the Maintenance Services shops personnel (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painter and locksmith) including issues related to safety, leave, performance, budgets, etc?
Collaborates with the Director of Risk Management to ensure that the department complies with existing regulatory requirements including OSHA, DEP, EPA, NFPA, ADA, City of St. Peter, etc.; maintain appropriate documentation.
Makes recommendations for short and long-term changes or updates in buildings, equipment, and/or systems for improved efficiency or operation.
Utilizes engineering principles and experience to develop a comprehensive maintenance plan, predicting and planning maintenance and renewal of buildings and systems.
Ensures that building and utility systems data including plans and Facilities Condition Assessment data are accurately updated.
Responds to customer concerns and follows through to ensure they are timely and adequately addressed.
Collaborates with other Facilities Management personnel and campus constituencies to identify problems and develop viable solutions. Serves as an integral member of project teams and facilities management team.
Provides project oversight for critical infrastructure and maintenance projects including planning, estimating, design review, bidding, and construction.
Manages and oversees work performed by consultants and maintenance contractors responsible of elevators, fire sprinklers, fire alarm systems and develops, implements and manages policies and procedures regarding maintenance activities.
